Christmas decorating!

Fa-la-la-la-la! It is finally beginning to look and feel like Christmas in the Flowers household! We have been holding off on decorating until we knew if we would be moving before Christmas and as things stand now we will be spending Christmas here. We DO have people continuing to check on financing as they really want to buy our place so help us pray that things will happen according to God's will! We bought our tree Monday since we always get a live tree. We normally go to a tree farm and cut it down but it has been way too cold to even think about taking the kids out especially with them just getting over colds. So, Danny bought one from a tree lot here in town and he picked out a nice tree that we enjoyed decorating this evening. Danny has been sick the past two days with a bad cold and has spent most of today in bed so he did not join in with the decorating. He usually puts the lights on and then the kids and I put on the ornaments. This year, I put on the lights and supervised the ornament hanging. They are getting older and did realy well and Becca and Ben even put out our small village by themselves. Caleb enjoyed the show from his bouncy seat and he loves the lights. Becca even held him up and he 'hung' his 1st ornament for his 1st Christmas! Aww! I truly love and cherish these times even though I feel like I am a referee at times! LOL! Anyway, the finished product turned out quite pretty and everyone was happy with how beautiful our house now looks! ;o) Another tradition that we have had for many years is to read an Advent story. We have 3 books that all follow the same characters. Each book is that character's point of view and they are highly entertaining as well as full of suspense! We bought them at our local Christian bookstore and enjoy switching stories every year. We are reading `Tabitha's Travels` this year. The story ends on Christmas morning and adds a special time to our Christmas season! I have included pics below so if anyone wants to check them out. I will put them on my Shelfari also and that will give you more details.
The little man also turned 5 months old today! Hard to believe..time has flown! He is rolling over, eating cereal, giving kisses and playing with toys and...he cut his first tooth yesterday! It is on the bottom and the one next to it looks ready to pop out anyday! He was so fussy and clingy yesterday and I did not discover it until the evening and then we understood why he had been sooo difficult! I have been having fun with the camera and have pics to post...of course! There may be some other odds-n-ends pics too...enjoy!

Here is the one we are reading this year.

Here is `Bartholomew's passage`.

And `Jotham's Journey` is another good one.

Putting on the ornaments.....

Caleb hanging his 1st ornament....

A little elf helped in the decorating....

....and his brother stole Santa's hat!

The finished product!

These beautiful stockings were hand-knit by
a sweet family friend of ours. She was so good
to get Caleb's done for us in case we had moved
by Christmas! Thank-you Jane! We cherish them!

Sweet baby boy in a basket! Awww!

Waving to Mama! He is starting to get the idea
to SMILE when he see's the camera!

I could not resist this photo op and Caleb did

well!

The tree came out really well. I don't have ours up yet. This weekend though....I didn't have much chance to talk to you at Mother's meeting but I'm hoping things will come through for you. Here's the bread recipe
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon baking powder (make sure it's fresh!)
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, dill, and cheddar in a large mixing bowl. Slowly stir in beer and mix just until combined. Batter will be thick. Spread in a greased 8-inch loaf pan.
Bake about 45 minutes.

Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool 10 more minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
We like this with stew or soup or toasted with honey or jam for breakfast. It's really quick and filling. I'm always looking for filling.

Ooops, the dill and cheddar in the instructions are from the original recipe. I leave them out.

Thanks for the easy peanut butter fudge recipe. I make a similar candy that includes milk choc. too, and it is a swirled candy: white, choc. and peanut butter mixed. It's yummy.

What was that recipe that you posted on my blog a few months ago? It was a Pampered Chef recipe that both my Moma and I thought sounded yummy. I was thinking that it was a Christmas candy recipe or something. I saved it in my gmail, but now I cannot think of the name of it, to find it in my mail. If you remember, could you just please leave a comment as to the name of it, so I can find the recipe in my mail? Thanks.

Your home looks fun and festive all decorated for Christmas. Hope y'all have a Very Merry CHRISTmas!
